Anticorrosion treatments
NANOCOATINGS® anticorrosion treatments protect metals and manufactured items exposed to weather, salt air, chemicals and particularly aggressive environments, by creating an ultra-thin coating based on silicon dioxide (SiO₂) on the surface.
With thicknesses of roughly 1 to 15 µm, the treatment protects the substrate without significantly changing its appearance, geometry or original finish. It is available in neutral, glossy or matt versions, so it can also be used on surfaces that already have an aesthetic character.
In addition to counteracting corrosion, the coating reduces the adhesion of dirt and makes cleaning easier, helping to keep maintenance costs down over time and to preserve the appearance of the item for longer.
Specific formulations can also provide bacteriostatic properties, helping to reduce surface bacterial proliferation and to limit conditions favourable to the formation of mould, algae and other biological contaminants.
NANOCOATINGS® anticorrosion treatments have undergone specific laboratory tests, including global migration tests according to UNI EN 1186, salt-spray corrosion resistance according to UNI EN ISO 9227 and resistance to cold liquids according to PTP 53. The technologies have also been tested and characterised at the University of Trieste – Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Thanks to their self-crosslinking properties and their high adhesion, due to the chemical bonds they create with the substrate, practically any surface can be treated, giving properties such as:
hydrophobic and oleophobic
anti-sticking
anti-fingerprint
protection from abrasion and from corrosion, including galvanic corrosion
protection from acids and alkalis
significant reduction in dirt adhesion, making cleaning easier
bacteriostatic, reducing the formation of mould, algae and fungi
food-contact compatibility
scratch protection
protection from UV ageing
Resistance to extreme temperatures (from -80°C to +600°C)
Resistance to salt spray
