Acid-resistant Marble Treatments

Acid-resistant treatments on marble: marble is one of the most appreciated materials in architecture, interior design and fine furnishing, but precisely because of its calcium carbonate composition it can be particularly sensitive to acidic substances and common chemical products.

Lemon, vinegar, wine, drinks, aggressive detergents and other agents can in fact cause stains, dulling and corrosion that are difficult to restore, clearly compromising the look of the surface.

For contractors, marble workers, designers and companies that make furniture, kitchen tops, bathroom tops, tables, floors and wall coverings, choosing a professional acid-resistant treatment is therefore an additional guarantee on the finished product and a concrete element of value for the end customer.

NANOCOATINGS® acid-resistant treatments are designed to protect marble, quartz resin, composite materials and stone from stains, chemical attack and surface corrosion, while preserving the original appearance of the material. We have different solutions depending on the substrate, the finish and the level of protection required. The treatments can be applied to polished, matt, honed or textured surfaces and are designed to ensure lasting protection without significantly altering the look of the item.

This technology increases the reliability of the delivered product, reduces the risk of after-sales complaints and gives the customer a surface that is more resistant to daily use and easier to maintain over time.

NANOCOATINGS® acid-resistant treatments are certified in accordance with current regulations for food-contact compliance – Global Migration UNI EN 1186:2003 – for corrosion resistance in the neutral salt spray test (NSS) according to UNI EN ISO 9227:2012 and for resistance to cold liquids according to PTP 53:2016. The technologies have also been tested at the University of Trieste – Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

In short, our treatments give the stone sector the following characteristics:

M.O.C.A. certification UNI EN 1186:2003 for food contact

Acid-resistant

High hydrophobic and oleophobic properties

Bacteriostatic properties

PTP 53-2016 certification for resistance to abrasion, wear and cleaning agents

Significant reduction in dirt adhesion, making cleaning easier

Anti-sticking, anti-fingerprint and easy-to-clean

High resistance to UV rays

High resistance to weathering

UNI-EN-ISO 9227:2012 certification for salt spray resistance

Elimination of chemical cleaning products

The acid-resistant treatment is permanent

Other characteristics of acid-resistant treatments on marble are high resistance to extreme temperatures (from -80°C to +600°C) and the possibility of giving the substrate →antiviral and antibacterial properties, always in accordance with standards.
Regardless of the intended use of the marble, outdoor or indoor, our treatments will be able to protect it for a long time while maintaining its properties.
